For a secondary school student, an examination can represent the gateway to university, employment and a different future. Unfortunately, the cost of registering for examinations such as WAEC can place that opportunity beyond the reach of some families.
The Clement Adesina Soje Foundation has responded by supporting examination fees and other educational expenses for students within the Magongo community. More than 230 school and examination-related payments have been supported, including WAEC fees for students of Magongo Community Secondary School.
The Foundation has sustained its engagement with auxiliary teachers in the community for several academic sessions, helping to strengthen the learning support available to students as they prepare for important examinations.
These interventions may appear straightforward, but their significance is considerable. Paying an examination fee means that a student's years of schooling can lead to a recognised qualification. Supporting teachers means that students are better prepared when that examination arrives.
The Foundation's work demonstrates a simple conviction: no capable student should lose a future opportunity because the final financial hurdle proved too high.
